Position Summary: Central Care Cancer Center is seeking an experienced Pharmacist with a strong interest in oncology to lead and support clinical pharmacy services at multiple locations across Kansas. This position is ideal for a pharmacist with a passion for oncology who is ready to take on a leadership role. The role entails management of medications and treatment protocols with the goal of improving care delivery, safety, and consistency across outpatient cancer centers. As the sole pharmacist across five sites, you will help shape and standardize pharmacy practices while supporting local teams.
Leadership & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including USP standards, DEA, and Board of Pharmacy requirements.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives related to pharmacy operations, patient safety, and clinical outcomes.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner with leadership to enhance care delivery in the rural communities Central Care serves.
- Mentor and train pharmacy staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the oncology pharmacist for Kansas-based clinics.
- Travel to affiliated locations to provide clinical support, staff education, and MID oversight.
- Collaborate with physicians and nursing teams to ensure safe and accurate preparation and delivery of chemotherapy and immunotherapy agents.
- Maintain and update chemotherapy order sets and treatment protocols aligned with current guidelines.
- Collaborate with vendors to develop a dynamic formulary that is optimized for medical oncologists and providers. Monitor drug prices and data to ensure efficiency and efficacy, and assist with formulary decisions and cost-effective drug utilization strategies.
- Participate in tumor boards, quality improvement projects, and pharmacy-related initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited institution.
- Active Kansas pharmacist license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Oncology experience is preferred. Candidates with a strong interest in oncology and a solid foundation as an experienced pharmacist are highly encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of antineoplastic agents, treatment regimens, and handling safety.
- Experience managing or implementing a Medically Integrated Dispensing (MID) program is highly desirable.
- Experience with USP <797>, <800>, and cleanroom operations.
- Ability and willingness to travel across Kansas (a company vehicle is provided).
