Payment Posting Specialist

The Payment Posting Specialist is responsible for collecting on patient account balances, posting payments and overall patient account management.

  • Maintain records of medical billing and claims, settlements, and medical insurance payments.
  • Answer questions from patients, clerical staff, and insurance companies.
  • Identify and resolve patient billing questions.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Balance daily deposit and ensure daily close and claims run.
  • Work closely with Patient Account Specialists by reporting insurance denials or incorrect insurance payments.

Requirements:

  • Previous clinical or coding experience, required.
  • At least 2 years' experience or payment posting in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficient in understanding insurance explanation of benefits and denials.
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD9 and ICD 10 codes.
  • HIPAA and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Understands insurance fee schedules and contractual obligations
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from group of managers or peers.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
  • Basic computer skills. Familiarity with billing applications and basic Microsoft Office and Windows applications.
