Central Care Cancer Center is bringing the Spring Health Symposium to Garden City on April 28. The symposium, which is accredited through Menorah Medical Center, will be held at the state-of-the-art Heartland Cancer Center, located at 410 E. Spruce St. Completion of the symposium will provide up to six credits for physicians, physician assistants, APRNs and nurses.
The Spring Health Symposium is designed to provide participants with a well-rounded selection of relevant, applicable and up-to-date topics in healthcare. Eight experts will conduct presentations in their respective fields. The symposium begins with a registration and breakfast at 7 a.m. and ends by 3 p.m. The cost of the symposium is $20 and includes breakfast and lunch.
“Our goal is to offer a healthcare event that is of the highest quality and affordability to professionals across western Kansas,” said Dr. Claudia Perez-Tamayo, President and radiation oncologist for Central Care Cancer Center. “Our symposium focuses on advances in healthcare, which will be available in this region.”

A far-reaching objective of the Spring Health Care Symposium, Perez-Tamayo stated, is to advance healthcare in western Kansas so that patients will continue seeking care in regions where they live. She sees the benefits of keeping patients at home, where they are not burdened with the stresses of travel, attending multiple appointments in unfamiliar locations, and dealing with incomplete patient records when visiting different providers.
“People shouldn’t have to travel far to get quality healthcare because the experts are here,” said Perez-Tamayo. “I’m inviting healthcare professionals to join us to promote wellness across western Kansas. This movement will insure that patients receive high-quality care where they live. The collaborative effort makes primary doctors the captain of the team and they remain involved in all levels of care for patients.”
