Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing support to healthcare providers and assisting in the delivery of patient care services to patients undergoing oncology treatments. This position will perform a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations of the clinic and the comfort and well-being of our patients.

 

  • Assist with patient examinations, procedures and treatments, providing support and ensuring patient comfort, privacy, and safety throughout the process.
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs, medical histories, and complaints, accurately documenting information in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including positioning patients, obtaining specimens, and assisting with medical equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Perform basic clinical procedures and routine laboratory tests, following established protocols and infection control practices.
  • Schedule patient appointments, tests, and procedures, coordinating with other departments and external facilities as needed to facilitate timely and efficient care delivery.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms, treatment areas, and medical equipment, ensuring compliance with infection control standards and safety regulations.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phones, collecting payments for treatment, verifying insurance coverage, processing referrals and authorizations, and completing medical records requests.
  • Inventories and order medical supplies and materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a medical assistant training program or certification preferred.
  • Previous experience as a medical assistant preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care and maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
