Central Care Cancer Center is dedicated to providing cancer care to patients in rural communities. We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse join our oncology team in Great Bend, KS. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of cancer patients while working in a supportive environment.

Job Overview:

As an Oncology Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing nursing services and care to cancer patients undergoing treatment. Your responsibilities will include administering chemotherapy, monitoring patient vital signs, providing patient education and support, and facilitating communication between patients, families, and physicians.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. No late nights or weekends.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor and record vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, and pulse rate.
  • Administer chemotherapy, injections, and perform lab draws as ordered.
  • Administer patient medications as directed by the physician.
  • Assist Physician during follow-ups and new consultations as needed
  • Implement treatment plan for patients, including chemotherapy, lab work, and supportive care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including charge sheets, chemotherapy administration records, and nursing progress notes.
  • Chart all patient transactions, phone calls, and prescription refills.
  • Serve as intermediary between patients, families, and physicians, facilitating communication and providing support.
  • Counsel patients and family members about chemotherapy drugs side effects, treatment plan, etc.
  • Educate patients and families on home care procedures and support services available.

Desired Degree

ADN or BSN

Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.N.) from four-year college or university; or Associate's degree (A.D.N.); or has completed a nursing program.
  • 3 years' experience as a Registered Nurse, however new nurses are encouraged to apply.
  • Oncology experience a plus.
